  By Nate McCray Every defense in the league is basically a renovation project. Some franchises are hanging drywalls. Others are still arguing with the inspector about the foundation. Thursday in Canton, the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals open their houses, except the tour guides won't be the people who actually live there. Buy an old house and the inspector always finds the same thing eventually: something's wrong with the foundation. It does not matter how nice the kitchen is or how fresh the paint looks upstairs, if the ground underneath is shifting, everything built on top of it is living on borrowed time. Football defenses work the same way, and the foundation is always the same four square feet: the pocket. Can you collapse it before the quarterback finishes his read?
